City: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Circuit: Las Vegas Strip Circuit
Date: November 20–22, 2026
Formula 1 under the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip is one of the most visually extraordinary settings in sport. The circuit runs along the iconic boulevard past some of the world's most famous hotels and casinos, reaching top speeds of over 340km/h on its long straights. Since joining the calendar in 2023, Las Vegas has quickly established itself as the most glamorous and entertainment-driven weekend in the sport, where the worlds of F1, music, fashion and celebrity collide most visibly.
City Rating: ★★★★★ Race Experience: ★★★☆☆
Our Verdict: Go for the Party + the City
THE CITY
Las Vegas is unlike anywhere else on earth. A city built in the desert entirely around entertainment, excess and spectacle. The Strip, which has the famous boulevard of hotels, casinos and attractions, is genuinely astounding at night, a kilometre of neon lights and outlandish characters competing for your attention. The shows are world-class. The restaurants are run by the greatest chefs on the planet. The nightlife is unmatched. For many visitors, Las Vegas itself is the main event, the race is almost secondary.
PRACTICAL FOR AFRICAN TRAVELLERS
Late November in Las Vegas is cold by desert standards, so expect days around 15 – 18°C, nights dropping to 5 – 8°C, possibly lower. Many people underestimate this. Pack warm layers for the evenings, as race sessions take place at night on the Strip. US dollars throughout, cashless almost everywhere. Flights from across Africa connect through London, key major European cities or key US hubs (New York, Dallas etc.)
WHAT TO EAT
Las Vegas has arguably the greatest concentration of celebrity chef restaurants in the world. Gordon Ramsay, Nobu, Joël Robuchon, Wolfgang Puck and many others have a presence there. Quality is high and prices reflect it. In-N-Out Burger for a quick meal is an American institution worth experiencing.
THE RACE EXPERIENCE
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is one of the most visually spectacular on the calendar, cars reaching 340km/h down the Strip with the neon skyline as a backdrop is genuinely extraordinary. However, the racing itself has been somewhat processional in its first seasons, with the long straights not generating the overtaking that the venue promises. The on-track product lags behind the off-track spectacle. Tickets are the most expensive on the entire calendar.
THE HONEST WORD
Las Vegas is the most expensive race weekend in Formula 1, full stop. Tickets, hotels, food and entertainment all carry significant premiums during race week. The race itself has not yet delivered the excitement the setting deserves. Go for the experience of Las Vegas with the race as a backdrop, not the headline.
